Venus-passasjen 8. juni

Venue in Vardø where Maximilian Hell made his observations in 1769

by Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard

  • If we have access to observation equipment, this will be assembled at Valen by Vardø Town Hall (on the site of father Hell's old observatory). People who are interested will be able to take a peek at what's happening out there in Space.
  • Following the Transit, the cannons of the fort will fire a salute, at around 14:00.
  • 1400 - 1600: Invited guests to Hamningberg, a small, abandoned fishing village in Båtsfjord municipality with a road connection to Vardø. This may be a lovely trip -- especially if the weather is fair!
  • 1800 - 1930: Two brief lectures on astrophysical subjects will be held at the house of Culture in Vardø.
  • 2000: Dinner at Vardøhus Fort for invited guests from Hungary and Austria, as well as the mayor of Vardø.
