INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLCAMPAIGN

Since a transit of Venus is a truly historic event, an international school campaign has been organized. Students - and others - from the whole world are encouraged to make as accurate measurements as possible.

For most people this will be the only opportunity in their lives to measure the distances in space. We hope that as many people as possible make a registration and submit their observations here.

Scientific data of particular importance:
    Method 1: Measuring the times for 2nd and 3rd contact. More.
    Method 2: Accurately trace the path of Venus across the solar disk. More.
Comparing your measurements with data obtained at a different latitude will enable the distance to the Sun to be computed.

After you have made the observations you should register your measurements on this form.
