World event in the Frogner Park

On the 8th of June we shall gather to marvel at the most important
celestial phenomenon of modern times as the planet Venus glides across
the solar disk. More than 30 organizations have joined forces for a
grand celebration of a phenomenon so rare that no living being has
ever witnessed it. At this gathering you will experience aliens, rocket
launches, a concert, national prize announcements, a world
inauguration, and several other amazing features. On our huge 40
m2 screen you can follow the transit of Venus, in real
time, accompanied by expert commentaries.

PRESS CONFERENCE ABOUT CELESTIAL EVENTS
The Norwegian Astronomical Association, Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics
at the University of Oslo, and the Nysgjerrigper Science Knowledge Project
(under the auspices of the Research Council of Norway) want to inform the
public about the historic celestial events in May and June of 2004.

PRESS RELEASE: VENUS TRANSIT IN FAMOUS FROGNERPARKEN
The historic transit of Venus on June 8, 2004 will be celebrated with
a huge event in the famous Frognerparken in Oslo, Norway.
Last year more than 20 000 people celebrated
the large solar eclipse early in the morning of May 31 in the same park.

HISTORIC CELESTIAL EVENT
On June 8, 2004 we will experience the most extraordinary and
important celestial phenomenon in our lifes. For more than 6 hours
the planet Venus will be visible in front of the Sun. No living
persons anywhere on the Earth have witnessed this before! Actually,
this will be the first time in history that everyone can follow the
transit with their own eyes using eclipse glasses.
