Official organizers are The Norwegian Astronomical Society (NAS) and The Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics. NAS is a volunteer-based, nationwide organization for those interested in astronomy. The society has previously organized large events on occasion of astronomical happenings and was organizing the large solar eclipse event in Frognerparken on May 31st 2003.
Parking lots in the proximity of Frognerparken are shown on the map. There will be a limited number of spots. There are also some parking lots in the area around Majorstua, especially near the University of Oslo, as well in the opposite direction, towards Skøyen. Normal walking pace will take you from these areas to Frognerparken in 5-20 minutes.
The main form of public transit is bus number 20 which, on short intervals, passes Frognerparken, as well as tram number 12 from downtown. Look for the stop Vigelandsparken. Frognerparken is also close to the major intersection Majorstua, where you can find all subway lines and several tram lines. Tables and maps can be found at trafikanten which is in English as well as Norwegian.
You can also call Trafikanten at 177 for more information.
We recommend everyone living relatively close to walk or ride a bike to the event. |
