BEAUTIFUL SOLAR ECLIPSE AUGUST 1. 2008
August 1. Norway experienced the first total solar eclipse from Norwegian territory since 1954. In most of the country the eclipse was partial, but over the island of Kvitøya the eclipse was total. Astronomy.no had a live webcast with images from several places in mainland Norway and on Svalbard. From the totality zone we got images from an Orion plane from Royal Norwegian Airforce and from Novosibirsk in Russia Arne Danielsen took some beautiful images. Read more and see the images

On August 1st 2008 Norway will experience a big and to some extent spectacular solar eclipse. For the first time since 1954 the Sun will undergo a total eclipse on Norwegian ground.In the southern Norway about 50% of the Sun will be eclipsed, in the northern Norway over 80% and on Kvitøya close to Svalbard the eclipse will be total!
